Souness should have been out earlier

Finally, Magpies sacked Souness. Let Shearer reign begin!

Winter was heated by Transfers

The winter transfer window was hotter than the pre-season summer one. Many teams have brought new faces in and released some players as well.

Pompey signed 9 players in the 1-month transfer period, while 4 of them were from Tottenham. The on-loan Argentinian Andres D'Alessandro is the biggest name among all their signings and should make biggest impact to the team. However, how these 9 players incorporated into the existing squad remains the biggest challenge to Redknapp.

Usual big spenders Chelsea and Tottenham signed only one and two players respectively.

Villa, Boro and Newcastle signed no players in January. Obviously, Souness can be granted no fund as he's already spent a lot.

I'd predict the following players could have a successful spell in the new clubs:

Andres D'Alessandro (Portsmouth): Pompey have no key man in the midfield, so Andres could automatically fill the gap.
Chris Sutton (Birmingham): Bruce really needs his experience to bring Birmingham out of the relegation zone.
David Bentley (Blackburn): He is a quality youngster. His display in Norwich last season has already proven it.
Patrice Evra (Man Utd): Evra is an attacking left back. He is a perfect replacement for Heinze.
Nigel Quashie (WBA): A natural ball winner in the midfield.
Dean Ashton (Westham): A very good striker.
David Thompson (Wigan): This skillful midfielder can surely improve Wigan's quality.
Antti Niemi (Fulham): His time when the Saints were in Premiership was great!
Wayne Bridge (Fulham): He will surely grab the chance to show his worth and force his way into the national squad.

Finally, I'd wish the following players good luck, since I'd think their moves might not be wise.
Theo Walcott (Arsenal): When will he be granted regular first team chance?
Maniche (Chelsea): I'm not sure if he can fit into Lampard-Essien-Makelele bonding.
Tony Warner (Fulham): I bet if he knew Niemi was joining, he wouldn't sign the contract.
Danny Murphy (Tottenham): He will be playing under Jol's squad rotation, but how many chances would he be given?
Matt Jansen (Bolton): He might be the 4th striker in Bolton.
