Carling Cup 2004 may have the biggest names from Premiership: Chelsea, Man United and Liverpool. But, the final winner should be Watford. Let me tell you why.
All the big names Man United, Chelsea and Liverpool should be able to qualify into European matches of the coming season, so no matter how good or badly they play, they will certainly send Watford to Europe. Watford may be the first team to secure in place of UEFA Cup of 2005. They know it as early as December, so they can put all effort in bidding for promotion (but they are now ranked 16 in League Championship), as well as planning for the coming year: How should they spend? Who should buy or who may leave.
So, Watford may not be able to beat these 3 giants, but they will get the European matches. Watford might not win the cup, but they are the biggest winner in the cup.
